One a whim, I decided to enter Turnout in the Westminster dog show. Since he isn't a top show dog, it was hit or miss if his entry would get picked. To my delight, his entry was accepted!
Next step was to talk with his family to see if they were not already booked for a trial and would be ok sending him to NYC. We all decided to take the road trip to NYC to attend the Westminster Kennel Club show in Flushing (Queens), New York.
Turnout was one of 18 Cane Corso entered. My talented and and super nice dog show handlers, Cassie and Mauricio Vargas, agreed to take Turnout for a spin around the ring.
For a dog who hasn't been at a dog show for about 3 years, this is a big step. We knew Turnout had the temperament and training to attend such a highly intense show. He did not disappoint and was awarded an Award of Merit by AKC Judge Ms. Denise Flaim, along with some very nice comments from the judge.
This was the third time a PrideNJoyz dog has attended the Westminster Kennel Club dog show and the first time we came home with a ribbon. :)
Glow was the first attendee the first year the Cane Corso was recognized by AKC and Winna attended a few years ago.
To celebrate we all went out and had a fantastic meal in Queens!
